Are the eyes really a window into the soul? What can the iris tell us about a persons health? What is iridology, how is it used, and who originated the practice?

Renowned iridologist and natural health educator Ellen Tart-Jensen answers these questions and more in her new book, Through the Eyes of the Masters: A History of Iridology (80 pp., tpb, $15.95). Released in April 2007 and inspired by her work with her mentor and late father-in-law, Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C., Ph.D., N.D. Tart-Jensen’s book brings to life the history of the art and practice of iridology and its earliest proponents and practitioners.

Through the Eyes of the Masters: A History of Iridology offers an overview of the science of iridology, its historical evolution in the United States, Europe, and Australia and a collection of engaging biographies on iridology’s pioneers. Tart-Jensen’s book also looks at iridology as it is practiced today, the tools of the practitioner, and the future of this non-invasive assessment method.

Gavin MacLeod, American film and television star says, “To have been a friend and patient of Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C., a pioneer of iridology in the United States, was truly a blessing for me! With her life dedicated to carrying on his legacy, Ellen Tart-Jensen, in her new book is doing just that... and more. Her book is a must read for all of us who want to live long and live strong!”

Tart-Jensen is a graduate of Appalachian State University, University of New Mexico, Westbrook University, and the Open International University. She also spent five years studying and working with Bernard Jensen. Tart-Jensen is an adjunct faculty member at Clayton College of Natural Health. In addition to writing about and teaching iridology, she maintains a busy iridology practice, Lifestyle Counseling Services, where she works with clients in person as well as with iris photographs from around the world. Tart-Jensen also serves on the board of directors of the International Iridology Practitioners Association and as Vice-President of Bernard Jensen International.
